Just bought this Henry VI Hammered silver coin for $30. I researched it and I think that $30 was a good price but I'm looking for some other opinions. I bought the coin more out of personal taste but I'm still wondering how I did price-wise. Thanks in advance to all replies.
I'd say ya did more than OK. To buy a coin of that time period, in that condition, with the history behind it, for $30 - assuming it's genuine of course and I see no reason to suspect it isn't - I just don't see how it can get much better than that !
Yes - you did fine. I make it out to be a Penny of Henry VI minted in Calais, Annulet issue 1422-30 - is that what you got to? S1845 in the book.
Yes, I believe that's what I got. I did some research but I couldn't find much on coins of Henry VI until I came upon this website. http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/brit/henry_VI/t.html Mine matches the coin at the bottom of the list. Here's the description the website provides.
