Iv'e had this coin forever and know nothing about if anybody can tell me anything about it I would really appreciate it. Thanx
Hi Jamey, and welcome to the forum. Well, if it's a little bit smaller, it's probably a copper halfpenny from 1838-60 (KM#725), worth somewhere between $2 and $20, depending on condition and date, which can't be ascertained from your photo. If it's a little big larger, it's probably a copper penny from 1841-59 (KM#739), worth somewhere between $3 and $125. In either case the reverse should have a seated Brittania holding her trident and facing to the right. The bust of a young Queen Victoria with her hair in a bun is the earliest one used on coins of Great Britain during her 63-year reign.
I can't find my 19th Century World Coins right now,but I'm pretty sure that this coin is from the Isle of Man - the 3 running legs you see are called Triskelion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_of_Man#The_Triskelion)
Hi Was just looking around and thought you could use some help The 3legs is the Isle of Man emblem and I belive its a halfpenny.
It is an Isle of Man coin, and from what has been said about it's size (about the same as a half dollar then it is a halfpenny, if it is about the size of a nickel then it is a farthiong. Hope this helps. Regards, PAB.
An excellent example of why it is so important to post both sides of a coin if you want accurate identification.
