It's only worth a few bux without the star and slab...
With the star, and slab... just an educated guess $25.

I'm going to agree with the previous suggested value. We all have done it, one time or another , but it's a " Bad Habit " that you need not repeat . I'm speaking about " Impulse Buying " . Especially with any collectibles . More often than not, you will have paid more than one normally would or should have. I can only suggest that in the future , you may want to be prepared . Do you homework before and not after the fact . Being a patient shopper will usually pay off in the long run. Sorry if I sound as though I'm preaching , I just cringe when folks approach buying anything supposedly Rare or Highly Collectible, blindly . It's a nice note , without a doubt . I just hope you don't wind up paying twice it's true value.

I don't have my " Green Sheet " handy so I can't say with any degree of certainty the current value. At least you didn't get burned to badly .

    The note mentions Original Paper Quality, which means it should be the new CGA, and holdering fees are;

    Submission Type (per note):

    Express - $50 Per Note
    Regular - $25 Per Note
    Economy - $20 Per Note
Mixed Bulk - $10 Per Note
Bulk Pack - $8 Per Note
    Reholder - $5 Per Note

    ....so, face value $1
    cheapest holder $8
    Shipping (avg) $5

    Total $14.00

If you got it for $12.50, you did real good.

depends on how cheap and what type. Obsolete, fractional, large-size? Find something you would be interested in and then we can send you some suggestions! :thumb:

That's a pretty expansive list. You have large-size notes, MPC, fractionals, small-size, and ALL of their varieites! Stars, gold certs, silver certs, funnybacks, etc. I would recommend getting acquainted with what your local shop offers, finding some pics on-line, ebay, etc. Once you have narrowed down what you're interested in, then decide which grade is the lowest you would go for. Once those have been decided, then you can really start!

What the heck is (Original Paper Quality)!!

Dont know if that,s same as PPQ (PCGS) or EPQ (PMG) i guess i would have to assume it is

As far as you note goes the 1957 Series is the most common and not that rare even with
The Star, ive seen these at shows raw in crisp gem for between $11-$15 all day long
And not to be a stick in the mud i dont think that note in a CGA holder helps your value!
Just because of there past problems with over grading it sticks with people! even though
The company is in new hands it still lingers!

Your assumption is correct Rusty, Original Paper Quality is the equivalent of EPQ & PPQ, and in the PMG and PCGS explanation of thier grading standards, original paper quality is the common denominator. If you don't like the holder, you can always cut it out. I wouldn't, but we just have different opinions about TPG's, and their place in our hobby. You have wonderful MPC's in PCGS holders, and awesome registry sets. About 80% of my notes are raw, and the remaining 20% is PMG, PCGS, and CGA. I was just trying to determine how much money was invested into the note in question.
