Hello, Let me start by saying I don't know much about coins. I am military and I picked an interesting coin along my travels. I have been researching it on the internet an I have hit a brick wall. It is a 1851 Silver Dollar. It has NO
motto " In God we Trust. On one side there is UNITED STATES OF AMERICA with a wreath and 1 Dollar and 1851 in the middle of the wreath. On the other side there is UNITED STATES OF AMERICA with 2 stars and a face with a head dress of feathers and on the band of the headress there is the word LIBERTY. As far As I can tell there is no Mint mark or no other distinctive markings. I have found a silver dollar made in 1851 on the internet but it is not the one I have. I cannot find anything about it any where. It would be greatly apprecieated if someone could help me with the value and history of this coin. Please feel free to contact me.

Definitely post pictures and can you provide the size (diameter) in millimeters if possible and the weight of the coin!!?? Does the coin appear to be made from silver or gold? If the coin is approximately the same size as a normal (say Morgan or Peace) Silver Dollar, it is possible that it is some type of Pattern, Trial or Fantasy Strike or other. If the coin is about the size of a Half Dime and is gold, then it is possible that it is an 1851 California Gold Dollar or an 1854 Gold Dollar in which the "4" has worn to like like a "1". However, if it is the size of a Half Dime and is silver, then it more than likely a Counterfeited coin! It is really hard to tell without pictures, size and weight but even then it is still impossible!

A picture would be nice, but it's not a coin, the US didn't make anything like that. It's a silver round. I've seen 2 of them on eBay over the years. I think that they are 1oz. silver, so they are worth silver content.
