Came across this coin a while ago and would appreciate some help with the proper identification. It certainly looks like an obol of Hadrian but the year shown on the reverse doesn't make much sense for this issue. Here it is ... any ideas? Obv: AVT KAI - ( ): Bust right Rev: Elephant standing right; LΔE (?) above Size is 18mm, 2.9gms
LΔE is correct and is one of the abbreviations for regnal year 10, which sometimes appears more fully spelled as LΔEKATOV. More commonly in general, with regards to coins of Roman Egypt, regnal year 10 is simply abbreviated LI. Your coin is Emmett 1155.10, to which he assigns a rarity rating of R5 . A more practical test of Hadrian rarity: does @Okidoki have one? No he does not! ==> super duper rare
Thanks again TIF! Always appreciate you helping me (and all the other folks on this site) with these tougher identifications.
