    ancient coin from Judea?

    Hi guys,
I'm starting to learn (and to appreciate) collecting ancient coins.
Is this coin from Judea? If so, how old is it?
Any input will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

It does look like a prutah of some sort, but the lettering seems off. Better pics would be good. Do you have a size, in mm? weight?

It resembles a bronze prutah of Marcus Ambibulus, procurator of Judea under Augustus. The specific year I can't make out due to glare from the holder, but should be about 9-12 C.E. Look at the reverse of the coin (your first image) and you see an L to the left of the tree, and two symbols to the right. If the second symbol is a theta, then the date is 39 Augustus (= 9/10 C.E.). I couldn't say whether the coin is real or not.

    Thanks, guys!
I'll try to get better pictures of it and also more info (size).
I've been wondering about the authenticity of this item, although I frankly wouldn't imagine that somebody would forge a coin like this (with not much value).
But again, I don't know much about ancient coins...
    Anyways, thanks again!

It looks far too crisp and corrosion free for an ancient copper. The prutahs were not generally hoarded so they normally turn up pretty green.
