Ok guys tell me if any of these is worth sending to NCS so that they can be graded these are all valuable coins. Let me know what you guys think.
er they are not all cleaned some are just dipped improperly and some are polished. can they clean the coins and remove the polish
god knows i have over a grand in those coins locked up due to some idiot manhandling those coins now i am trying to see if i can save it
99% of the people out there will tell you no. I'll tell you yes, and it can do it in more than 1 way. First of all, acetone is no different than any other chemical, if used improperly it will be harmful to the coin. Now how do you use it improperly ? Easy, don't dip the coin repeatedly in the same dish of acetone. If you do, what the acetone cleaned off in the first dipping will go into solution in the acetone and remain on the coin when the acetone dries. Forget to thoroughly rinse the coin in distilled water and you can again end up with residue. Another way that acetone can be harmful to the coin, at least in a monetary sense, is that it may remove dirt, grime or contaminants that were covering up something that would cause the coin the coin to grade lower than it would have if it had not been cleaned with the acetone. Answer your question ?
how about answering mine? are all these coins hosed? or can any be saved or were wrongly body bagged?
IMO, if you want them slabbed, send them to ANACS. As far as I can tell, they have all been cleaned, and not very gently. As far as I can tell, NCS will be of no help to you. If you send them to PCGS or NGC, they'll take your money and give you body bags. With ANACS at least you'll get them slabbed with "DETAIL" notations.
i should take the pictures again most of the scratches that give a cleaning effect are on the flips and not on the coins then you guys can tell me i thought the edwarsd 07 the vicky cnt legend and the 1921 were wrongly body bagged
Spock Spock Spock Spock Spock You mean, you did not remove them from flips before pictures? Spock Spock Spock:headbang:
well those are rare coins it want to put my fingers on them dont worry i will put up other pictures tomorrow
Just out of curiosity, where can you buy acetone and how much does it cost? I'm assuming its flammable and how do you dispose of it. I've also heard of xylol or xylene any input on that? Thanks All.
