most of my coins i used to collect were from circulation or given to me (which i dont have anymore) now ive just been buying random things that looks cool or are silver I want to start a collection that has meaning to it. what i plan on doing is getting at least one example for each type of denomination starting with the seated years and on till now bust are to expensive for now.heres what i have so far quarters washington eagle reverse standing liberty barber dimes Roosevelt mercury barber (hopefully on its way) pennies indian head nickles v nickle modern Jefferson (i wantto get a war nickle soon) jefferson with his head facing out with memorial on back half dollor kennedy proof walking liberty dollor washington uncirculated sacagewea 2012 native with horse sacagawea normal susan b anthaney can any one come up with a list that includes the names and the dates of each change the coins have had since the seated type (like how the modern penny has 4 different types) i think i might get some half dimes and 2 cents as well.and larg cents What kind of nickle was in the seated days most of the modern quarters dimes and nickles i have are proofs so id like to stick with proofs for modern coins if possiable. i like the way proofs look over uncirculated and maybe a mite even put in a coin for each change in metal type like the modern pennie copper steel zinc and silver and non silver (nickle hasent changed much i dont think im also looking for the cheapest place for 2x2 and the plastic binder pages that hold like 20 2x2 a sheet if any one wants to donate anything they have extra of that would be nice wont be able to accept for a couple weeks tho i find out if i have my own place by friday hopefully so dont realy have an address right now and since theres no coin stores around me most coins will be coming from ebay so if you find any good auctions with stuff im looking for post them here as well as any suggestions for this collection Thank you

i have one ancient roman coin cost me 9 bucks so its not much i forgot which one it is i believe it had to do constatinus i have 1 indian head penny more wouldnt hurt
There are plenty of websites that give you the history of each denomination. You can just Google them. As of lately, I have been looking at the types of pennies used since the US Mint started producing them. You can have a strategy on each type of coin you want or don't have one, there is no rules really. It is your money and your hobby, buy what you like or even don't buy them just search through rolls at the bank. I started buying one or a couple of each type of coin I wanted and have went on from there. I have old modern Whitman books and sometimes I work on those but only like certain books. I like the wheat cent books and the Roosies up to 1964 book.
Yes the Red book of us coins is really helpful. Also if you want a website with an easy break down of each type in each denomination go to PCGS (you can google it) and click on price guide and it'll have a break down of each type of denomination for you to choose from for prices.

i have the red book i have no time right now i work from 2 pm till 11 pm every day saturday is voluntary but has been mandatory for the past month and now im working sunday. and this week im working sat sun and mon. all my time goes to my wife and daughter or sleeping and looking at ebay that was whhy i was hopeing to have it all on one page so i wouldnt have to search it would all be right there
