    All,

    I hope this is the correct place to post such a question. I did check the other portions of the Forum before posting as such and didn't see anything for Research related material for paper currency.

    My question is simple, can one ID the following currency?

    Thanks in advance!

    CCMint,

    I looked at the link and at first it appears to be the same but then there are differences. One will be the person and then there is a difference in the building. I will make a guess that there could be changes based upon a different time period?

    Thanks

    Possibly. Take a look at this page, it appears to have your note, and similar ones as well.

    Follow up

    With CCMint's initial help, I have since been able to ID this 100 yen as being
    [h=1]CHINA HONG KONG 100 YEN BANKNOTE 1945 PICK#M28[/h]
    Thanks!

    If you don't know thew answer, don't guess. That does not help the OP.

    The note is Japanese, not Chinese. It is P-89 in the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money and was issued in 1946. There are two varieties based on the watermark. One watermark has Kiri leaves, the other an arabesque design. he one with the Kiri leaves is P-89a and catalogs at .2.00/VG 5.00/VF 12.50/UNC. The other watermark is P-89b and is priced at 4.00/VG 10.00/VF 25.00/UNC.

    No, it is not. China M-28 does not have serial numbers.

    Thanks for correcting me and my novice mistakes. A good day, as I have learned something new
