I have found a banknote in my collection and wondered if anyone can help me with it.. I think its from Lithuania. Can anyone shed any light on it. One side of it looks as if it could be fake, the picture just looks like someone printed it on a low res printer

It is from Lithuania but it is not a government issue. I think you will find that it is a "local currency" sort of like the community currencies popping up in the US.

The design somewhat reminds me of these fantasy notes that were selling on eBay a while back: Friesland €5 2009

I think collecting local currencies, of which there are MANY, is an interesting sub-collection one might pursue, but it's not necessarily easy to say there's any market for it amongst collectors willing to pay much premium for most of them now.

community currencies can be found i alot of countries. Most have some pretty interesting designs. Great Britain and the US have them, as i just learned in this thread Lithuania has them too. Many more can be found if one looks ... and not all that hard either :)
