Found this nickel in a roll, and was quite surprised that is looked like it wasn't too badly worn. I am not that good at grading circulated coins, but do you think this would be an AU possibly? Pics don't do it much justice, but I can get more if y'all want. Thanks ahead of time. Here it is:

Hmm well, lets see. XF-40 looks + Picture not doing the coin justice + the fact the photo is very bright = AU-50.

    :D

Lol, cool, thanks Bone! Can nickels rust? Didn't know that. They just look like red spots to me, lol. Any way to take them off? Acetone? Thanks.

Best guess - the remains of red fingernail polish.

    I'll add my guess.
I'll say that the coin was in contact with a sourse of iron oxide (rust) for a period of time, and the rust has stained the surface of the coin.

I'll also guess the coin is a low end AU, or a high end EF.
    Nice circulation find!

A nice circulated find. XF to AU in my opinion but take a closer look at the scans. It has a 180 degree rotation! Or is that just the scanning?
