Found this nickel in a roll, and was quite surprised that is looked like it wasn't too badly worn. I am not that good at grading circulated coins, but do you think this would be an AU possibly? Pics don't do it much justice, but I can get more if y'all want. Thanks ahead of time. Here it is: Phoenix
Hmm well, lets see. XF-40 looks + Picture not doing the coin justice + the fact the photo is very bright = AU-50. Ben
Lol, cool, thanks Bone! Can nickels rust? Didn't know that. They just look like red spots to me, lol. Any way to take them off? Acetone? Thanks. Phoenix
i knew that, but the spots looked like rust, so it was the easiest way to ask the question lol so what are the spots.. paint, sand, mud, lipstick?
I'll add my guess. I'll say that the coin was in contact with a sourse of iron oxide (rust) for a period of time, and the rust has stained the surface of the coin. I'll also guess the coin is a low end AU, or a high end EF. Nice circulation find!
A nice circulated find. XF to AU in my opinion but take a closer look at the scans. It has a 180 degree rotation! Or is that just the scanning?
An AU from the fifties, found in circulation... Yea, thats exactly why I love roll searching! Awesome find my friend!!
Didn't think of that, might be. Not sure what it is, lol. That might be, I have no clue. Thanks! Thanks! Lol, I wish! That is just the scanning, couldn't flip the pic for some reason. Thanks! Thanks!
