I have been using photograde trying to get better and wanted to get your opinion on this one to see where I'm at as far as learning. I got this 1937 Buffalo a few days ago and I grade it at an XF40. Any an all replies are welcome and thanks. The Liberty and rim have good separation, The hair Ribbon and date are strong, cheek bone has alittle wear. On the rev. there is a full horn, The head hair is showing wear as is the hip area. Lots of luster. I would go XF45 or AU 50 if it were not for the scratches below the buffalos head on the rev. Please let me know how I did good or bad. What did I miss ect.? Thanks
I,am not a professional coin grader by any means but the divit just below the Tail on the reverse would be a definite distraction in my book but i still think You would be ok at xf40
I'd go along with the XF40 details, but the coin would never get in a regular slab because of those scratches.
Im not trying to be a professional grader, I just want to get better so when I go buy a coin I can offer a fair price so I dont insult them with a low ball price and also so I dont over pay. I want to be fair to them and myself. Thanks gang your the best.
I agree with XF40, too. But what exactly are those scratches that look like a Satellite Dish below the Buffalo's chin ?
Thats the way it was when I got it Not sure how it happened, But now that you said it, it does look like a satellite dish.
Is that satilite dish the remains of a clashed die perhaps? Not a Buff collector so not sure if clashing would look like that or not.
