    Hi everyone,
I was wondering if some of you might be able to tell me why some German marks have green numerals and other have red (I have pictured an example with the 100 marks, but I have some on other denominations as well). Also any other information that you could provide would be useful.

    Thank you

Great question. The notes with the red serials were issued prior to WWI and were redeemable in gold. The notes with the green serials were issued after the war and were not redeemable in gold.

The German collectors also place a premium on notes with red serial numbers with 6 digits in the serial number.
