    Hello All.

I have this coin that was given to me and I'm trying to identify its origin. I don't know if it is real or fake. Could be either. Is there a good website that I can use to help identify the ancient type coins? Or maybe a book? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Lysimachos, drachm or tetradrachm. Looks very off to me. Probably imitating Miletos mint.

@Ignoramus Maximus Thanks. It may be a fake or reproduction. I would have no way to tell one way or the other on these type of coins. It looks real to me but thats not saying much. Either way I would like to find a way to identify it. I took your reply and looked up Lysimachos, drachm or tetradrachm. Found a bunch of pictures that are close but no match yet. Still looking.

@Ryro Thanks. With the information from @Ignoramus Maximus I found this image online. Closest thing to the coin I have. Too many inconsistencies for me to think mine was real. My conclusion is that it is as you said, a reproduction.

Still cool to look at and gave me some entertainment trying to find out what it was. Thanks all for the help. I will still keep it and just label it a reproduction.

Fake. Look at the hair, and at the letters on reverse : the engraver did not know Greek letters.

Yes, modern fake, in my opinion. It would be interesting, to me, to know the weight and size. Always learning.

@PeteB The weight was 11.25 grams. Its not perfectly round so i'd say the size is between 27-28mm.

    11.25 grams!
That’s the clincher! Should be close to 17 grams.
    Thank you.
