I received these 5 coins from my father-in-law. All he could tell me is they are probably ancient Arabic or Arakanian coins. Can anyone help me identify them? Or suggest any resource?

    Welcome to Coin Talk @aroy!

These are Islamic coins (except for the 2nd one, too hard to tell what it is). These coins were probably from India, but the last coin pictured might be from Egypt. Language is either Arabic or Persian, alphabets are very similar.

If you are interested in pursuing Islamic coins, a good resource for beginners is Arabic Coins and How to Read Them, by Richard Plant. First edition is very informative, pictures are better than the 2nd edition. Second edition makes some corrections, but there were errors as well.

My husband used to collect this type of coins many years ago, so this information is from him -- but his knowledge is rusty. Others on this site can probably provide more details.

Thanks a lot @ancientcoinguru. You are right, these are probably Indian or my assumption Arakanian, since my father-in-law is from Bangladesh. Thanks for the suggestion of Richard Plant's book, will look it up.

Very interesting coins. I see one seller all the time on ebay selling these types from India. If you were ever interested in buying some more, their auctions always start at .99 cents and don't go much higher. Just scroll through the ancient coins category and you will find them.
