Hello, I have a 2010 gold Canadian Maple Leaf coin which has a reddish spot on the edge. Can anyone tell me what caused that and is there any way to remove it? Thank you in advance for your help.
Likely caused by the tiniest of impurity in gold, possibly a few copper atoms? It isn’t problematic and I’d also recommend you leave it alone. You are likely to cause damage trying to “fix” something that is not a problem.
This is not really my world but some see copper spots like this as a good sign that the coin has not been messed with. A spot like this, on the edge, would not bother me.
