There might be something there.....Judging by the 7, I'd guess your phantom letter is worn die doubling of the D.
2b1ask1- I see what your saying and I don't think your wrong. I also se a SF mint mark, especially in the pic on the right. I saved it and open it in paint where I zoomed in and outlined the point of intrest. Take a look at what I see.
