    Group,
Can anyone help me id these 2 coins? I was sent the photos by a friend and I only have the 19th and 20th century editions of SCWC. I know that they are quite worn, but any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    -Daniel

The bottom one looks like an early Louis 16th, before he looked like a big toad - if that's the case then it's between 1776 and 1792 ( I think, although my french history is terrible ) and thus probably quite rare/valuable. His reign was interrupted by the 1st French republic and then the French revolution in 1792/3 :S Basically there're very few of his coins left as they were melted down to mint coins of the new government and quite a lot were defaced, much like some of Tsar Nikolas II's currencies, where the hated rulers face was carved up. Oh, and all the 2 sols were very soft coins, they wore easily and for some reason a lot of them got holes in.

You guys are incredible! I don't think I would have found those in a million years. Thank you.

I think I'm going to like it here.
