I stumbled on a bunch of Eisenhowers and I was looking for the Type 2, and I am having trouble with a few. Can I get some opinions on whether anyone thinks these are type 2 coins? I am pretty sure Picture 1 is a type 2, but I'm not sure about 2 and 3. I am pretty sure picture 4 is not, but I guess I needed a control item to make sure all the others I excluded were also not. Let me know if the photos are not good enough to tell. Thanks for your help everyone.

oops, not sure how to size the pictures smaller on this screen so it doesn't expand to the right.

Check out the Ikegroup.org web site, look down the left side column of links for some 'cheat sheets' for the various types.

Krispy is absolutely right. The Ike Group web site is ground zero for
    Eisenhower Dollar research.;)

Thanks Krispy and Stewart. I am excited that at least one of them is a type 2. I also checked out that link and the pictures and help were great. I'm not into Ike's, but I couldn't pass up $150 worth of them when I found them at the bank. Hopefully I can turn a profit on this and put the money back into the collection. Thanks!

Did you find any 40% silver Ikes in that bunch?

Unfortunately no. I assume you can look at the edge like a 40% silver half, or look for the S mint (although there are some clad Smint coins) so these are the methods I used.

Yeah, that's the easiest ways to tell them apart. Weight would be another way to confirm if you have a scale.

    Silver issue: 24.59 g
    Copper-Nickel issue: 22.68 g

Too bad you didn't get anything silver from that many. Last time I found any Ike at all at the teller window, she only had 3 Ikes in her drawer. None were silver.

  10. Picture 1 looks like a 1972 Type 2 Ike to me as well. Congratulations! Estimated mintage is about 100K, so these are very hard to find searching raw coins. TC
