I need this coin for my 7070 type set. I don't understand the higher price of the 1860 (w/shield). All 1859 has for itself is for type collectors, but does it have that much effect to cost $50 (wholesale) more in XF? Information below. Mintage of 1859 approaches double for 1860 as does survival. I can imagine in 1859 that the Indian Head is replacing the Flying Eagle and people would be hoarding the Flying Eagle. 1860 rolls around and the Indian Head now has a shield, so people would probably save some 1859's. So this seems that the ONLY reason the 1859 is $50 more than the 1860 is type collectors. That seems too extreme to me.
