I have it as a C-9. No info on the Edge Letter Size nor the Planchet Thickness. It's in an NGC slab graded XF-40 (which I think is a bit generous). Opinions, please.
I agree, it does look like a C-9. This is also the most commonly seen 1794 1/2C variety. R-2. I like the nice tan color of your C-9. NGC EF40 seems a little high. I grade mine (also a C-9) EAC F15, maybe VF20.
I would say that it probably should have been graded VF-30, but it’s a really nice early half cent. The TPGs have been “degrading” the EF-40 grade for many years, especially when it’s a scarce to rare coin.
BTW the coin's color is darker than my images show. I had to brighten them with Photoshop so that I could ID the variety. GC has a problem with copper coins and dark images. Photoshop is the only way I can ID many of them.
