    In the Ptolemy-Egypt series of ancients I believe.

    Looks like a Ptolemy. I'll guess Ptolemy iii. Check out AC search and I'll bet you can prove me right...or wrong:rolleyes:

    Egypt, bronze AE38, Ptolemy IV (221-205 BC), Alexandria mint

    As others have said and as you've already found, this is a bronze coin from the Ptolemaic dynasty. Exactly which Ptolemy isn't always easy to determine.

    The most up-to-date online resource for attempting a more accurate attribution is here. The amount of wear on your coin may make it difficult or impossible to pin to a specific type since the details which allow such specificity may not be discernible.

    Even being a little heavy, it seems to be as you say from the countermarked type in Ptolemy IV - Series 5 - Kyrene Denomination Series. TIF's link given above is a very useful page and well worth saving for coins like this.
