    Hi All,

Which lens is better taking coin pictures "AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G prime lens" or "AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR zoom lens"?

I bought 5000K compact fluorescent bulbs and adjusted white balance to 5000K, but the picture still didnt look right. Any other suggestion to improve the color of my photo?

    thanks.

You need a macro lens, preferrably one with a focal length of about 105 mm. And you need something to hold the camera steady while you are photographing coins.

I have a Nikon D-300. For coin photography I use a Sigma 105 mm 2.8 macro lens. I also use a copy stand so the camera will be perfectly still while the aperture is open.

I would recommend not using florescent lighting for photographing coins. Instead I would recommend using incandescent lighting. I use adjustable desk lamps with GE 60 watt Reveal bulbs.
