I'm with Frank, it sounds like it could be a good deal, but what coins are they and in what grades.

If you can live without the $700, go for it. No guts, no glory. Is he local or is this a Craig's list type deal?

I'd buy it for $600 - though, inspect each and every one for possible issues (open slabs, fake slabs, etc).

It sounds to me like a decent deal confused a little you mention 96 coins then over 80 so not sure which it is but with even 80 coins there's probably at least $1000 in grading fees alone but if he's only two towns away I'd go look at them just for peace of mind.

    wear gloves

For someone with no time to fool with them he at least had time to present a photo of what may be in the boxes.

    No description? Just time constraints.

Sounds too good to be true, so get some asbestos gloves.

    Not.

It sounds to me like a lot of money spent on slabs, with inexpensive moderns worth a fraction of the unslabbed examples -- always a warning sign for me.

With all the rush rush, I immediately suspected they could be hot too.

Bulk lots of that type, where you, as a buyer don't know what you're buying, are almost always a good deal for the SELLER. It doesn't matter what the grading fees were - it's the coins that count and you don't know what they are.

You are up against big odds, and while everyone likes to think that they can/will be the one to beat the odds, very few do. It's a sucker's bet.

At best, you may be able to clear a 75.00 profit on those. Now if he will provide you with an itemized list and grade of each coin, which I'm certain he can do, review it and than make your decision.
