I was talking with a friend of mine today and the topic of the state quarters came up. It has been a few years now since all the states and territories have come out and now that everyone is familiar with them we all have our favorites. I would say my most favored are Alaska, Utah, Montana, Maine, Connecticut, and North Carolina while my least liked are Wyoming, Michigan, and Idaho. Wyoming would be so much better with a little more detail, Michigan should have tried something different, and Idaho should have just focused on the falcon. I prefer the simple one idea design instead of a bunch of different things having to do with the state thrown together. My friend on the other hand has basically the opposite opinion with some his favorites being South Carolina, South Dakota, and Florida. I just wanted your opinion on the matter and which ones you enjoyed the most. Try to ignore just going with the state you live in as a favorite unless it really is one of the quarters you like the most. I'm from Pennsylvania myself and find our quarter about average on the scale with the rest. The wager in case your wondering is only $1. Thanks for any input.
Connectiut, North Carolina, West Virginia, and Deleware are my favorites. I'm from Indiana and don't really care for the design, it seems uninspired. I like the simpler designs better.
I like Alaska , Montana and Texas and hate my states , Illinois . I mean could they stuff more things on a small coin , Lincoln the states outline , the Chicago skyline and a farm .
I think out of the state quarters Connecticut and Mississippi are my favorites. I actually like the Wyoming, too...but the rest are pretty awful IMO. I DO, however, like the America The Beautiful quarters...especially the 5 oz versions. I plan to put together a silver proof set of the regular quarters at some point (just the ATB.)
My vote is for sale??? For a mere 2 dollars I will vote for whichever state will help you win. I actually like Arizona and Connecticut.
I like the one with the army guy standing up in a boat. And Monroe carrying a flag that Carl Allenbaugh did not believe yet existed. And where's Hamilton, out practicing to be the second fastest gun on the Potomac? evil:
Such passion regarding the designs. Hate is a strong word. Are you guys absolutely sure? Remember, there was a time when contemporary folks hated the Morgan Dollar. Many thought the eagle to be scrawny............
The ones that I find reasonably well designed are: Delaware, Connecticut, Kansas, Nevada, Oklahoma, Alaska, Hawaii... If I had to pick one that I like the absolute best, I think the Nevada design is worthy of that honor (and not just because of the horses ).
