Hi, I sold a few coins a couple of years back that had been sitting in drawers for a couple of generations and I found this forum to be a trove of useful information and helpful people. :hail: Recently a family member asked me to sift through another collection with a view to selling the valuable items. The collection is vast compared to my previous lot but mainly worthless, Victorian pennies, contemporary world coins and the like. However there are some interesting items, including some older coins which are generally in very poor condition. I've taken a camera snap of these (can provide more detailed pics/scans if required) just to see if anyone can identify any of them or point me to resources that will help me identify them. Some appear to be Roman, Greek or Arabic? Thanks for looking!
Most of it is low value ancients, several are fairly modern indian and the very top left is a fake athens and im sure the one below is is too. Whole lot, including the fakes...$50.
That's fine, I didn't expect them to be but I have no experience of ancient coins and they are hard to identify so I thought it wise to check I wasn't passing over something rare, even if in poor condition. I may try and sell them as a job lot but I've got several boxes of coins to go through first! Thanks guys!
Seriously, if you have some ancients you need ID'ed, post them here. The coins you posted above are mostly coins I have no expertise and/or they are fakes as Mat pointed out.
