Help please with 1956 D Error confirmation.

I have a 1956 D that has what looks like an Error.... compared to others I have of the same year. Can anyone help me confirm it and lmk if anyone has seen it before on this year?

I don't see anything out of the ordinary. Just some well circulated Cents. Can you tell us what you might think looks different.

If it is the different locations of the Mint Mark that would be normal. Mint marks were hand punched into the Obverse Die back then. So you will have that effect.

 

Before 1990, mint marks were hand punched into each die somewhere below the date (on Lincoln cents). That exact location will vary, as well as the rotational orientation of the mint mark. Very few mint marks are collectible because of their placement or orientation.

 

what exactly is the "error" that you see on these 63 year old cents ?

 

and it was horribly cleaned

 

Two have been cleaned, That's an error. not a mint error.

 

2 of them kinda look fake lol

 

They're genuine, but harshly cleaned

 

looks like a quick cleaning with a Brillo pad ... get the large open areas nice and shiny

These pictures make it difficult to tell to be completely honest. There are several 1956 d doubled die LMC that have mostly the doubling of the eyelid. These pictures make it very hard to see if they are or are not any one of those listed on coppercoins.com. try to get some better pictures in better lighting and then post them on this same post.

You have to excuse some of the people on this forum as they can be quite unwelcoming and extremely unforgiving to people that are new to the hobby. If I were you, I would t put any coins that people tell you into a pile that you want to spend unless you are certian that they don't have any doubling errors. But, that doesn't mean to keep every single coin you come across, but don't toss it under the direction of someone from here as they have been wrong time and time again on some of mine. You can't no for sure unless you send it in and you won't know what to send unless you know what to look for. The best bet is to compare your coins to those on a website such as coppercoins.com. and if you want to send one in then hell, it's your money your spending, I say send a way. You will also learn that way. Now, sometimes they are also dead right here on them. But,it can be very difficult to tell without seeing the said coins in person.
