    I once had a Barber Quarter that looked very similar! Gathered up a few different opinions, but the general consensus was acid erosion from sitting too long in a puddle of something "nasty" (for lack of a better term).

    Acid damage, without a doubt. Same for the second coin.

    thanks ,,any ideas why the rim of coin did not get effected by the acid wash

    The rim is pitted, just like the rest of the coin.
