I'm completely out on a limb while asking this question as I have no knowledge whatsoever. I have read posts about Mint's making test marks on their coins. I only have a scanner to show this so please forgive my pics. Are these test marks on this coin? They appear at the right rim on the obverse and one on the left rim above the D . The obverse also shows a possible cud at the forehead of Victoria? Any help would be appreciated. Thankyou.
I see the areas in question on the Obverse incused. Is that correct? Planchet Flaw? Kind of Lamination Issue maybe?
Yes, the marks are incused and I can see no ragged edges showing like PMD would look like, at least on the right hand marks. There does appear to be some lifting of the metal on the left hand mark. The area in front of her head starts at the rim and is raised as it would when looking like filled in metal from a cud. Have to take a 15 minute break, but I'll be back. I'm back. Edited this a bit.
Looks PMD to me but would never second guess Paddyman 98 he breathes errors. Here is a clean one to compare to?
