I wanted to see what anyone thought of this raw Morgan Dollar. What do you think the grade and price would be. Just curious if what I think is close to general assumption. Regards.
I sock at grading, but there are numerous marks both in the fields and the devices, the worst probably being the hickey on her neck and the nose job. Since I see no wear, I would give it an MS60 or 62. Now I look forward to being "schooled"
Yeah, I was stuck between MS63 and MS64. Leaning toward MS64 because it always looks better in hand I was thinking around $65.
I am going to knock it down a grade or two, and say a MS61 the reverse is much better then the obverse, allot nicks and digs I have many A/U 58,s that are better, but desirability always goes with price saying $50
This is the kind of coin that gets me in trouble. Such a clean and sharp strike…. I would pay better than $150.00 or better just on eye appeal alone.
Around an MS 63...a little too much chatter in the fields, on the cheek, and on the neck to go higher. In a PCGS or NGC holder, a 1904-O MS 63 is averaging $70-$80 on eBay. Raw UNCs are trending lower, in the $45-$65 range. I'd say a safe guess for yours would be around $55.
Cleaned (improperly) and PVC? Rim damage? The terminal black spots? Inconsistent luster? I can not detect flow lines, from the image, even using a 5X on the screen. I don't have it in hand, and can obviously be wrong in evaluating the images.
I was intrigued at the appearance, and jumped to a 10X held to screen to just find out for my own reasons. I pass. The slight yellowish tint (most prominent on the Eagle) is not lighting anomaly, and the other comments I offered stand. Yes, I could still be way off. I am old.
I took a second look see and I’d also pass on this coin as it’s a easy coin to find in decent condition. I feel you can do better and still stay at a reasonable price.
