help needed identifying coin

    Hi all
    I recently found this coin and I'm not sure what it is. Its a fairly large coin, as you can see in the picture next to a mercury dime. Its so worn down that the only marking I could make out is 'II'. My thoughts lead towards European or British but I'm not sure.
    Any help is welcome. Thanks

    Also I should mention that the obverse and reverse are like American coins in which you have to flip it horizontally

    Looks like a British 1/2 penny, from the George II era, minted between 1729 and 1754
