I recently acquired a Byzantine gold solidus from a Heritage auction, see photos below. Heritage described the coin as "Constantinople, 1st officina, dated Indictional Year 11 (637/8)", which appears to be correct. They then assigned it to "Sear 764", which I believe is incorrect. I think it's Sear 766. There are so many minute & confusing die differences with this issue that they can be a real challenge to attribute. Am I correct on this one? I hope David Sear can jump in on this one. Any help would be appreciated.

Milesofwho, Thanks for your input. This post didn't exactly get overwhelmed with opinions on my hypothesis did it :hilarious:? What happened to all the Byzantine coin collectors o_O? Maybe the post was just too boring to draw comments :bored:....
