I purchased these BU rolls which was from an estate sale. These was from an impressive coin collector. Which included OBW 1965 Jefferson Nickels. sending a 5 stepper for grading at PCGS. Anyhow these 1958 P were put in these tubes that for the Life of me seems it locked up in there for life. I am guessing the previous collector put these coin in there back the 50s / 60s. Most of the ones I purchased were put in these type of tubes.
Any advice how to get these pennies out without damaging them. I have purchased many other dates including this date online but these pennies are definitely pristine. The others online look like they were rummaged trough and are just reselling them. Thanks in advance. Disregard the image with the yellow markings.

What are you asking? Are the lids stuck on the tubes. Are the coins stuck in the tubes? Post a photo or two and add more info please...
Yes...some of us know tricks to get stuck coins out of tubes without damaging them.

I'm guessing he's dealing with those clear plastic tubes with the caps on both ends that tend to "shrink to fit" and are near-impossible to get open afterwards. I do remember figuring out a solution a few years back (HERE is the CoinTalk thread with photos.)

Didn't someone here post about putting them in the freezer for some time?

Yes, that was @GDJMSP in a comment in the thread I linked above, then @masterswimmer suggested soaking them in hot, not boiling water. I still feel my suggestion of pipe cutter to cut up the roll into manageable pieces and GENTLE pressure with a vise grip was the safest, easiest method. But that's just my experience.

Never done it but my guess would be to warm it to expand the plastic.

Yes, the plastic should expand more quickly than the coins.

This might work as well due to higher thermal conductivity than the plastic.

Provided the plastic heats up before the coins, that is.

Unfortunately the plastic doesn't expand as you'd expect...
I would say the two best methods are to use pliers to slowly break pieces off and get them out as you break the tube apart. Scoring the tube (carefully!) lengthwise with a razor blade type cutter will create weakness for breaking it apart.

Or to squeeze the middle of the tube hard with your hands or big pliers while rotating it and when you get the right angle they slowly start to fall out.

Freezing risks condensation and altering the surface of the coins as does boiling them especially if you get them literally in the hot water.

Yikes, this sounds correct, I was concerned about the freezing thing as well.

I've heard of this, but have not experienced it. I've got a bunch of tubes from the 70s, no issues.

Do you know which tubes had this issue?

I did give that "slowly tear off bits of the tube with snips/pliers” method, but found it super, super tedious; plus, I would inevitably either damage my hands or the coins. I swear - if you can cut it with the pipe cutter into smaller bits, just a slight squeeze with the vise grips will have the coins slipping right out.

No the pennies are litterally stuck in there you can see in the pic provided I had to cut the plastic. I was able to take off the kids on the second one but the Pennies will not come out like it is squeezed in there. Ok I will upload a photo.

These are 1958 pennies, I am guessing he packed them on the near that time or the 60s
