Evening, Trying to learn visuals and grading a bit - Can someone give me a 'ballpark' ( or better ) Grade and Value on this 1934 Lincoln Wheat Cent? It is obviously pretty dirty , nicked, but most details seem fairly sharp. Is this common for these 30s, 40, and 50s Wheats? Mike ps: This is the second coin from my 35 yr. old 20th Century Type Set.
Grade - If those wheat lines are as worn as they appear, fine. Value - Numismedia lists it for 25¢, but good luck trying to get that much for it.
VF-20 on a good day because of the hits on face. VF-20 on a good day because of the hits on face. Value - about .70 cents. You can get a very nice one to replace this one for little money if you want.
Details grade makes it a VF-20. The net grade may be less in hand, but that's hard to tell from your pics. Less than a buck in value.
Thank You Thanks very much for the honest opinions and very fast ones to boot! Just as in the IHC I submitted a few days ago, I am surprised at the level of grades suggested - much better than I had anticipated. First off, I had the coin overall at VG to VG-8, with the reverse showing more promise. In hand - ( w/o eyepiece ) the nicks are not jumping out at you either, but they are there. Wheat stalks and lines look nice with decent detail. Fine to VF-20, imagine that and yes I realize the coin is only "worth" 25 to 75 cents. It seems to fit the rest of the coins in the set. Thanks to all and in advance if you care to chime in... Mike
