Why not contact some dealers in Nassau and ask if there is anything they would like to get?

You could also buy some Unc. coins & Banknotes from the Central Bank of the Bahamas, which is also located in Nassau as well.

The local post offices will sell you British Postal Orders in a range of denominations from 50 Pence right up to 250 Pounds Sterling.Get the post office clerk to datestamp the postal orders. If they ask why,you should say this,"I'm buying them as a great souvenir of my visit to the Bahamas".

It's hard to tell a person what U.S. coins he should take to the Bahamas (Because of the number of Americans who flock to the island). There is probably an overstock of U.S. coins....I echo what Satootoka suggests: contact local coin dealers and get their opinion...

I have been to the Bahamas, Cayman Island, Jamaica, Belize, St. Thomas, St. Croix and Honduras and they all take US currency (any kind) and they will swap US currency for what ever they have. I would just check out the shops some may have old coins and bills for sale. Oh, and the rum is cheep also.
