Help in Identifying Year on Saudi Coin

    Howdy,

    I have a Saudi Coin, KM# 40; Ghirsh and I can't find out the year. Maybe someone can help me.

    The date is below the number 1 on the second pic, 1378AH which translates to 1958.

    I believe this coin is 1961.

    The formula that I know of is the following...

    Arabic numerals ۰,۱,۲,۳,۴,۵,۶,۷,۸,۹ (0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9)

    Your coin =
    ۱۳۷۸ = 1378

    622 + [(Arabic Date) - (Round(Arabic Date x .028))] = AD Year
    => 622 +[(1378) - (ROUND(.028*1378))]
    => 622 +[1378 - 39]
    => 622 +[1339]
    => 1961

    The difference may be because I've read that some folks round to .03 from .028.

    How come 3% in the first place?

    Muslim calendar years are 2.8% (11 days) shorter than Gregorian/Julian years.

    I skip all that math and use a web based converter, it says 1958.

    I am an Arab and i can read and convert the Hijry date.
