Help ID'ing medieval coin

    Bought this on eBay on a whim, but have been unable to identify it. Hasn't come yet but my guess is that it's fairly small (denier-size). The reverse reminds me of the Byzantine IC XC (Jesus Christ), but the C's look more like 8's or B's to me. The lot dated the coin to 1615, but I'd be surprised if it's not a few centuries older. Papal States maybe?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
