Ok first of all, I know I need pictures, but I don't have any right now, just trying to get some leads because my redbook of paper money is pretty much useless right now.

I picked up a few notes today at my coin shop (including my first fractional, yaaay!!!), so here's what i KNOW:

1918 Fed. Res. Bank Note (Chicago) Elliott, Burke
    1874 .25 cent Fractional

    and here's where I'm stuck:

First one with a brief description.
Top Center-Left is the word Maryland.
Center of Note reads: The Somerset and Worcester Savings Bank
    One Dollar
Some Script Which I can't seem to make out, with a year of 1862.
Top Picture is of a lady sitting next to two sheep, bottom right picture of a girl in a hat carrying wheat or something, some sort of plant
Left picture is of a beehive
Says American Bank Note Co. New York at Bottom center
Weird thing is, there is nothing on the back? is it a fake or something? It's in rough shape, paper seems brittle?

Ok next three are just confederate notes i was curious about.

First is a 50 dollar note with I believe it is Jefferson Davis on it, with Richmond and Feb. 17th, 1864 written below in script. Any comments, history or links to grading, it's in pretty rough shape, just trying to get a value as well ( i know, tough without a picture).

Another Note, a $5 note, dated Feb. 17th, 1864 in Richmond, with a picture of I suppose the presidents mansion? on the top and some guy in the bottom right corner.

And finally a $20 note again from Richmond and again dated Feb. 17th, 1864 with a picture of a large building with a bell tower? in the center, could be the treasury?

By the way, are the confederate notes hand-signed? it almost appears that way.

Well anyway, thanks for any info/history lessons on any or all of these notes! I was way excited to get them, probably overpayed, but I'm happy:) photos to come in a day or two (i hope):)

    Commidaddy...

The first note you list is an Obsolete from Maryland...
There were 2 types issued a KSG116.5.2 Green Panel and a KS116.5.3 Red Panel...The Green panel will have a very intracate back with an orange mark, the red panel will be blank on back except for the "One" stamped in red will be reversed on the back of the note.

The Geeen is the better price wise for the 2 notes.. in High AU to CHCU $100 for the Green and $60 for the red.

Post some images when you can...
