I’ve got a real head scratcher here. Is it real? Reproduction? Spanish? Spanish Netherlands?
    I’d appreciate any help!

I'll say reproduction but this isn't my cup of tea.

Mexico War of Independence 1810-1822. It's a fake, since the original coin is gold and this isn't.

The link doesn't seem to work for me. 8S? What does the S mean?

    I think 8 S is 8 escudos. Here's an example on Numista.

This coin is a fantasy piece, possibly brass, loosely based on an 8 escudos of Charles IV.

Here's what an actual 8 escudos looks like. This particular coin was struck in 1816, in Santiago, Chile, during the reign of Ferdinand VII. The obverse portrait of Charles IV was retained for Ferdinand VII, with the obverse legend starting "FERDIN VII D G...". This absence of a proper bust of Ferdinand VII for the gold coinage of Santiago was probably due to the Wars of Independence being waged during the 1810's throughout South America and Mexico.
