Hello, I was hoping someone here could me identify this coin. I believe it's Roman from what I've found online. Any help is appreciated!
It's a denarius of Antoninus Pius - a memorial issue celebrating his deification. The obverse legend is DIVUS ANTONINVS. The reverse legend is CONSECRATIO.
I would expect it to be a little more sharp. Hard to tell though, sometimes those ancients can get that look over time due to a number of reasons.
Really? ... I'm certainly hoping that low-grade coin is at least genuine? (hardly worth fakin') ... oh but yah, I've been wrong before
I see the mount is marked 14k and there is something scratched on the clasp. Overall the style does not look like something I'd do in 14k. While I first believed the coin to be real, I would be interested in someone who knows jewelry commenting on the mount. I would have thought it might be a home made casting but that might not be marked.
