    Hello all,

My apologies if this request does not fit the forum protocol.
I need help identifying the figure on this medallion that I have that is mounted on a pocket watch chain. The chain is made in Germany by Jakob Bengal around the turn of the century. The medallion seems to have been added as it's mounting is not up to JB's standards.

Hopefully the image will post so you can help out. I've done a fair amount of research but have not come up with anything. Based on the design of the helmet, I'm guessing this to be of the Norman era or somewhere in the 1000 AD range.

Please refer to the pic and any and all comments would be appreciated.

Judging by the style I would say it's 19th/20th century - I couldn't say that for certain, but it's certainly not medieval (too much depth and perspective)

The medallion is not ancient or medieval. I'm guessing 19th or 20th century. A character from a Wagner opera, perhaps? Siegfried? Is there any inscription on it?

Welcome @Sabre123. I have to agree with the others. Not ancient nor medieval.

Thanks guys. after re-reading my post, I can see the confusion that i created. I know the medallion itself is not ancient, my brain was lagging behind my fingers typing. What i meant to say was, the image depicted on the medallion seemed to be from that era.

interesting point about the Wagner opera and Seigfried. i ll look into that. No inscription. on the back are a pair of curved leafed branches. that is it

Thanks again and sorry for the confusion

Ah! Understood - I would then say a romanticized version of the Middle Ages, or maybe even Bronze Age. Certainly not an accurate depiction of those times. I think Roman Collector is on to something suggesting a Wagnerian influence...
