I'm not sure there are Arabic letters on your coin. The images are very dark. The coin might be of the " Indian States". Anyway you could help us by describing what you can see with your naked eye, having the coin at hand. I mean any image, such as a star, circle, ship, shadow of animals etc..
Could be an Indian falus, Post-Mughal, princely states. But unfortunately not one i recognize at sight. The left picture, with fragment of Arab legend, is upside down.
Thanks for your replies I can't make out any particular images. Here are some brighter photos as the first ones were a bit dark. I've put a side view too because it is quite thick 0.6cm.
I think it looks cute with the exaggerated thickness compared to the size. If you can't identify who made the coin I'd just label the tag with "Circa 16th or 17th century Indian Mini Hockey puck coin" because it sort of does remind me of a hockey puck.
Older thread, but encountered a very similar coin while not looking for it. http://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=5567 Suggests this is a Rupee (or Paisa if copper ?) of Orchha, Princely state in central India in name of Shah Alam II.
Orchna under British protectorate. Silver Rupee of 19 th century AD. Could you give us the weight and better images of the other side of the coin.
The weight is 17 grams. I've taken another photo (apologies if it is upside-down). Many thanks for all your help.
Indeed upside down, but a much better photo. So it is clearly copper, and with the weight this makes it an Orchha AE Paisa i.n.o Shah Alam II. Year AH1211 = 1797AD.
Wow, you really do know your stuff. Thank you so much. I have just found another similar coin, slightly larger this time. It weighs 14 grams. Any ideas?
These coins are actually far out of my knowledge area. I have set the upper limit of my Indian collection collection to 1300AD. But i guess i have probably seen more than most people here. Helps to be able to read them a bit. Your other coin is a 19th century paisa in name of Shah Jahan Begum of Bhopal. Your left picture is upside down. In your right picture the name "Shah Jahan" is what is written above the horizontal crescent in the middle.
