Can anyone help me to identify the coin shown in the attachments? I would really appreciate any assistance. Thanks
I can't identify it for you but I can say it's a good idea to not get your fingers on the face of the coin like they are on the last picture
actually it appears to be from Austria or Hungary from the reign of Theresia. Just google Theresia and 1765 and you should get a bunch of info... Or check out a copy of the Krause guide to world coins from your local library
I very strongly agree that it is a Maria Theresia Coin., But I've never seen one from 1765 before. try this forum, I'm sure someone could give you a hand... http://www.theresia.name/phpBB2/index.php and also, I couldn't find anything, but maybe I didn't look hard enough.. http://www.theresia.name/en/index.html :thumb:
The coin is from Hungary and yes it was issued under Maria Theresa. I cannot find a pic of it in Krause so it must be one of those without a pic. If you have the size and weight we can probably identify its denomination.
Every picture I can find of Maria Theresia coins have her picture on one side. This coin doesn't. I've posted a note on www.theresia.name site but haven't received any responses. Thanks for your help.
