    This coin appears to commemorate the Year of the Snake which according to the Chinese zodiac coincided with 1989. However, with the lack of purity markers on either the obverse or reverse, I'd be skeptical of this coin's composition. Edit: Okay, so it appears that your coin is, actually a privately issued token commemorating the beginning of the Chinese New Year.

    Its not a private mint product. it is an official mint product struck in Shenyang mint which is part of China banknote printing and minting corporation.
