Hello. This Morgan Dollar dated 1889 O is believed to a VAM-2 A , with its oval mint mark and far date. Can you please assist me in guessing at the grade? And then does the MM look repunched or O over something . I really appreciate any opinion. Thanks in advance .

We would need a much better close-up of the mint mark to be able to tell you if it is an RPM or OMM.

Thanks a lot Chris. Here is hopefully a better image of the mint mark.

It doesn't appear to be either an RPM or OMM.

    Thanks for the closer look.

Can we consider it as an oval O ? Is this typical of the VAM2A.

The tall "Oval O" was used for many of the 1879-1884, 1888 & 1889 Morgans.
