Hi all, a friend of mine has the chance to buy this coin as a part of a group lot. He asked for my help and I am asking the best experts I know, you folks.

I am thinking the eagle reminds me of Ptolemaic silver but the obverse does not look like a Ptolemy. I am thinking since it is mixed in with a bag of foreign it is probably a modern cast copy but I know this guy and have seen his purchases from this auctioneer and they have all seemed legit. The Greek to the left of the eagle looks almost like a gibberish of vaguely Greek like letters.

    Any help is very appreciated.

It pretends to be a Shekel of Tyre, a very popular coin mentioned in the Bible and counterfeited as often as any ancient coin. There are thousands of real ones and more fakes than that.
    I agree.
