Hi All.. been a while but I finally have time/money to get back into the hobby.. right now I'm working on upgrading my IHC collection that I started way back when. can anyone take a look at this auction and let me know what they think on the grade.. I'm thinking EF-40 but could be way off.. thanks in advance http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330509285397&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
I see a lot of crud in the devices, as well as some potentially active corrosion developing on the reverse. I believe the pictures are masking some of these problems, so I'm glad you got sniped.
It's obviously a circulated coin. MS++ ? No way. As Matt pointed out, it's 100% brown with zero red. RB ? No way. I suppose XF is a decent grade estimate, but it's spotty and cruddy. Not an attractive coin.
Thanks guys.. glad I got sniped then. I need to hone my skills more before I dive into buying off e-bay.
The coin has full ribbon and diamonds, strong reverse shield, weak feather tips which is not unusual for this year, and it is hard to tell from the photos if there was much actual rub. In my opinion, the coin is at least AU58 and I can't tell if the reverse was plain old dirt (which does not damage the coin) or corrosion (which would be a problem and the coin would be net graded). Without the reverse issues, it might have gone MS62/MS63 BN.
