If anyone has an opinion on the grade/value of this coin that info would be greatly appreciated.

The coin looks like its in a slab....what is the name brand on the slab?
At first look I would say the coin has been lightly circulated....because of the feathers on the ladys head....

It is in a SEGS slab, which is why I am asking about the grade. I believe the grade on the slab is too high, but I wanted a second opinion.

Pics aren't the best for judgment but I'd hazard a guess at AU55.

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

The coin appears to have AU details.

However the color looks off to me. May have been dipped and has since retoned...Mike

I was goingt o say that this coin looks fake. How could a coin with this much wear be still red?

    Question

Wondering if you could point out all this wear - I see some signs that looks like wear on the very tips of the feathers and maybe around the ear. So could you please point out what you are referring to - want to learn to judge my IHC.

    Thanks

The locks above the hair, the wreath on the reverse? The feathers? this coin was touched quite a bit and should be not red due to the reaction with the oily fingers on the coin. You must have seen copper coins with finger prints.

    Maybe dipped...

The photo doesn't really help much...as you know that is a proof and so it will always have more detail...where as a weakly struck coin wouldn't have that much detail even in MS grades.

Not that I disagree - I certainly like the coin you linked to better. But could part of it be the scan? I agree it looks like maybe it was dipped - I saw a couple at the local shop today. And at what point would a coin (that is properly taken care of) start losing the red? Personally I like the brown - but I did just recently purchase one listed as red to see what it looks like in hand. Just gathering more info.
