I want to know: is it just damaged or is it an error? Based on the state of the rest of the coin, I’d say damaged, but you never know. I would also like to know if it is worth anything, if possible.

As ldhair mentioned, welcome to CoinTalk! Your coin is not an error, and is worth one cent. It had a lot of opportunity to get damaged in its 25 year+ lifespan.

Looks like a minor plating bubble that formed and ruptured.. Making your coin worth less than 1 Cent :wacky:

It's a good coin to use as a reference for "zink blisters" as you learn what they look like. Also the one on the reverse has "popped" and the copper is gone.

Yeah, spend it before it disintegrates completely! An '89 is like an Oreo cookie, except that the inside is zinc instead of a sweet filling. The cookie cracked & the filling is about to ooze out.:smuggrin::smuggrin:
