I am relatively new to collecting (this is my second post, my first is under the "searched rolls" thread and is basically copied here. I've learned much from everyone here by lurking the last few weeks... thanks!)

Yesterday I went through $300 of bankrolled halfs (much to my dismay, only one pre '71!) but of interest... I began to set aside some astounding looking 96 Ds. I tell you, these are not AUs... these must be mint state, as in mint roll type quality/the reeding prickly to the touch. Mind you there were other 96 Ds, but all that had this quality were set aside, with a total of maybe 27. A few have that dusty haze I've seen before in older rolls. Ultimately... this is not what is strange. Seven of these share the almost exact same grease die fill/wrinkly area that runs from just off Kennedys nose, out through the L of Liberty, and down through IN

I don't know if this is something significant/important or not... but darn sure got my blood pumping. I've attempted to take some pictures of the seven which I don't believe are very good, it's my first attemt at photographing coinage, and I left the pictures on photobucket to maintain size, I hope this is ok.

Any thoughts or input is greatly appreciated

    Thanks in advance!~

    JD

    Welcome JD!!!

Not sure that I see what you describe but I did notice on two photos including the third and last that there appears to be a raised squiggly like under the chin? You can see it on the last photo. Is that part of the coin or just something sitting on the coin? Is it really raised? If it is sunken it might be a strike through? Raised might be a result of damage to the die?

    Anyways,

Good Luck and I am sure other will be along shortly to help more.

Howdy JD - Welcome to the Forum !!

It's nothing unusual or significant, but the fact that you noticed is ;)

Welcome to the forum! It's good to see someone closely examining Kennedy Halves. I don't see anything in those pics that would bring a premium, but be sure to keep an eye out for those 1974-D Doubled Die Kennedy Halves!!

    Happy Hunting!

Ive found a 1995 that was struck through grease so bad that some of the letters were missing. I actually have more fun putting unc rolls togther of clad dates. Most of the coins I find are unc's, Ive heard that a lot of JFK's just sit in banks for years.
